SIM racer Aiman Haziq Aidi showed great mental strength and determination to emerge as overall winner of the Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM) Lockdown Virtual Championship.
Aiman trailed Singaporean Mikko Nassi by six championship points going into the final round at the Portimao Circuit (Portugal) but delivered when it mattered over the final two races in the top tier elite division on Sunday.
The 22-year-old emerged as the winner of the fourth round (after results from the last two races were combined), ahead of Ayman Aqeem Abbas, who is also one of Malaysia’s top sim racers, and experienced racer Dominic Ang.
The competition, which was open to both Malaysian and Singaporean e-drivers, featured four rounds with two races held per round.
Aiman clinched the championship title with 153 points with Mikko and Aqeem coming in second and third on 147 and 111 respectively.
“I am happy to win this because Mikko is a really fast driver who I have known for some time,” said Aiman.
“The final round was quite tricky because I was six points behind him and I could not afford to make any mistakes, especially in the second race which used a reverse grid.
