JDT dismiss claim of foreign hunters
FOREIGN clubs hunting for talent at Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), and wanting to sign Safawi Rasid, Akhyar Rashid and Syamer Kutty?
JDT technical director Alistair Edwards, when asked about the rumour which is making its rounds in the M-League, said it could be the work of football agents.
Edwards, who denied the speculation, said: “If there were foreign football clubs interested in any JDT player, the first person to know about it is either me as technical director or sporting director, Martin Prest.
“They will contact JDT. If there isn’t any communication but there are local agents claiming about interest from overseas, it is either one of two things — either it’s a made-up story or the agent is trying to make money.
“If the interest is true, the club or an international football agent hired by them will contact us.
“We have inside knowledge in the business of football, in which we are the only club in the country to sell players.
“For example, we sold Juan Martin Lucero for US$2.5 million (RM10.69 million).”
In 2016, JDT sold the Argentine striker to a club in Mexico for an additional US$1 million than the original asking price of US$ 1.5 million.
