MALAYSIA: Petronas Yamaha Sepang Racing Team’s (SRT) Franco Morbidelli and Valentino Rossi experienced contrasting fortunes on the second day of MotoGP testing in Qatar on Sunday.
Morbidelli, who was seventh (1:55.174s) fastest on an opening day, made solid progress and moved up to fourth after clocking 1:54.153s on his older 2019 A-Spec Plus YZR-M1.
The Italian, who was placed 14th (1:55.584s) on Saturday, hopes to make inroads when testing resumes at the Losail International Circuit tomorrow.
Morbidelli, who completed 63 laps on Sunday, said he will focus on race pace in the remaining three days of testing.
“I am happy with the job today. We had some good improvements today (Sunday), and then we just got better and better as the day went on,” said Morbidelli.
“We also went through some new elements, some of which I liked.”
