The Champions League final between Chelsea and Manchester City on May 29 will take place in Portugal with 6,000 fans from each club allowed to attend. The game was moved from Turkey to the city of Porto in Portugal due to coronavirus restrictions.
“We accept the British government’s decision to list Turkey as a red zone to visit with an open heart to protect the community from being infected with the virus as well as the challenge of hosting the final between the two English clubs,” UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin said in a statement.
“After so long receiving the effects of a pandemic, it is unreasonable for fans not to have the opportunity to watch their teams fight in the biggest match of the season,” UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin said in a statement today.
UK citizens returning from red-listed countries are required to undergo quarantine at designated hotels for 10 days thus making it difficult for them.
