Pahang won’t splurge on foreign players this season
Past experience has taught Pahang to be wiser in spending money on foreign players this season.
Team manager Datuk Suffian Awang said they would not overspend on foreign stars after their failure to see a return of their investment last year.
“We do not want to make the same mistakes this season, “ said Suffian after the Malaysian Football League launch yesterday,
“Some foreign players demand wages that are impossible for us to pay.
Suffian however, said coach Dollah Salleh has been given the freedom to choose his players who fit into his tactical plans.
Pahang are in the midst of their preparations for the Super League starting on Feb 28.
“The main focus is to build an effective team with good understanding between the local and foreign players, ” he said.
Suffian said Pahang’s goal is to finish in the top four this season.
“Selangor, Kedah and Terengganu have spent big to bolster their squads.
“It’ll be a tough competition this year.”
