Zubir bids farewell to Elephants
Former international Zubir Azmi (pic) has left Pahang with a tinge of sadness after three seasons with the East Coast side.
The leftback joined Pahang in 2017, helping them win the FA Cup in 2018 but this season the Elephants finished empty-handed.
Dollah Salleh’s men, however, finished a creditable second in the 12-team Super League and also made the semi-finals of the FA Cup and Malaysia Cup.
As part of their rebuilding process, Pahang have released two of their imports – Indonesian winger Saddil Ramdani and Singaporean midfielder Safuwan Baharuddin.
Veteran striker Norshahrul Idlan Talaha has also been released along with promising youngsters M. Kogileswaran Raj and A. Solomon.
“I will miss the environment at the Darul Makmur Stadium and the love showed by the fans. I wish we could have won trophies last season… we really tried but it was not meant to be.
“I also need to thank my mentor coach Dollah for giving me a chance to don Pahang colours.
“I hope to continue playing in the Super League, I’ve got some offers and I’m looking at my options, ” said Zubir.
