Former national futsal player Ahmad Ridzuan Abdul Halim has adapted to life under the Movement Control Order (MCO).

Ridzuan, who is now the assistant coach of Pahang Rangers, said his daily routine is focused around his three daughters, while his wife, a nurse, is busy attending to Covid-19 patients at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan.

Pahang Rangers compete in the Malaysian Premier Futsal League, which was suspended on March 16.

“I first thought the MCO will only be for a short period, but it has now been extended.

“I have been at home for more than a month taking care of my daughters.

“I work for the Kuantan Municipal Council, but I am not involved in any of their operations as it is tough to find someone to take care of my children during the MCO.

“My wife is a nurse and she is very busy attending to Covid-19 patients.

“Before the MCO, I usually go to work and then hang out with friends before coaching my team.

“Nowadays, I only head outdoors to fetch my wife from work or buy groceries. I believe everyone is going through the same thing.

“My wife is actually a pediatric nurse.

“However, she was seconded to handle Covid-19 patients due to shortage of staff.”

Ridzuan said his wife takes precautionary measures before she returns home from work daily.

“She will take a shower at the hospital and will only enter our house from the backdoor. She will then shower again before seeing our kids.

“I am grateful that my wife and kids are free from the virus.

“It is, however, important to strictly follow the Health Ministry’s guidelines to stay safe,” he added.

For the record, Ridzuan played for Pahang’s Youth Cup and President’s Cup before starting a career in futsal in 2007.
