Red Warriors feeling positive
Debt-ridden Kelantan are feeling positive ahead of the M-League resumption despite only getting the green light to restart training from the Malaysian Football League (MFL) on Tuesday.
Earlier, the Premier League team were not allowed to train on the pitch as they failed to provide the necessary documents to the MFL for the clearance.
Most teams have been training since the government gave the nod to restart non-contact training on June 15.
Kelantan, who had recorded a win and two defeats before the suspension of the league in March due to the Covid-19 pandemic, will reopen their campaign against UKM FC on Aug 22.
Although pressed for time to get prepared for the match, Yusri believes Kelantan will be ready for the challenge.
“I admit time is not on our side to prepare for the resumption of the season, but I believe my players will work hard in training to regain their match fitness.
“UKM are also facing a similar issue as they only started training recently. I think both teams have a chance of winning this match.
“I have to make do with the available squad. I hope we will not lose more players following the departure of South Korean Kang Seung Jo (who has joined K-League side Gyeongnam),” he said.
While finishing in the top two is almost impossible, Yusri believes Kelantan have the pedigree to qualify for the Malaysia Cup.
“The players need to do well, starting with the match against UKM to achieve the goal,” he added.
